The Crown Prince and his music teacher Quantz are interrupted during a flute lesson by Frederick William I, 1729, (1936). 'Der Kronprinz Und Sein Musiklehrer Quantz Werden Von Friedrich Wilhelm I Beim Flötenspiel Überrascht. 1729'. German composer and flutist Johann Joachim Quantz (1697-1773) taught the flute to Crown Prince Frederick (1712-1786, future King Frederick the Great of Prussia, and son of Frederick William I of Prussia). Quantz said that he once had to hide in a cupboard during an outburst of Frederick's domineering father, who disapproved of his son's musical studies.
