Men of the Lützow Free Corps with Körner's body, 26 August 1813, (1936). 'Die Lützower An Der Leiche Körners, 26 August 1813'. German poet and soldier Carl Theodor Körner (1791-1813) fought in the German uprising against Napoleon. Körner composed patriotic poetry to encourage his comrades, among these being the "Schwertlied" (Sword Song), written only a few hours before he was mortally wounded in battle, aged 21.
