The Battle of Sedan, 1 September 1870, (1936). 'Die Schlacht Bei Sedan, 1 September 1870'. Battle of the Franco-Prussian War, fought in the Ardennes department of north-eastern France. The defeat led to the fall of the French Second Empire and the occupation of Paris by the Germans and, in 1871, the creation of the German Empire.
