The rebuilding of Waterloo Bridge, London, 1934, (1935). London County Council demolished the old bridge which was damaged, and commissioned a new structure designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott. The project was placed on hold due to the Second World War. The only Thames bridge to have been damaged by German bombers during the war, it was not fully completed until 1945.
