The SS 'Kronprinzessin Cecilie', c1910. Passenger ship named after the German crown princess, Duchess Cecilie of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (1886-1954), and operated by the North German Lloyd (Norddeutscher Lloyd) shipping line. She entered service in 1907 on the Bremen-Southampton-New York run. She was seized by the US Government during World War I, renamed the USS 'Mount Vernon', and served as a troopship. Postcard.
