'Death of Simon De Montfort', (1218), 1890. Simon de Montfort, 5th Earl of Leicester (1175-1218), a prominent leader of the Albigensian Crusade, died at the Siege of Toulouse in 1218, his head smashed by a stone from a mangonel.
