'Charles Dickens's last reading at St. James's Hall, March 15, 1870, (1901). British novelist Charles Dickens (1812-1870) at his reading table during the 'Farewell Season' at St James's Hall near Regent Street in London. Dickens was by this time very ill, and died a few weeks later, on 8 June.
