Arrest of Gavrilo Princip, assassin of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, Sarajevo, 28 June 1914, (c1920). "The Crime of Serajevo" - the Ostensible Cause of the War: the Arrest after the Assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his Wife'. Serbian nationalist Gavrilo Princip (1894-1918) is taken into custody by local police after murdering Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austrian throne, and his wife Sophie, Duchess of Hohenberg.
