'Wellington Monument, London', c1910. Bronze equestrian statue of the Duke of Wellington at Hyde Park Corner, designed in 1888 by Joseph Edgar Boehm. On the right is the Wellington Arch, a triumphal arch designed by Decimus Burton and built 1826-1830. It once supported an earlier equestrian statue of the Duke which was removed in 1882-1883 as it was considered to be too large for the arch, and also, by some, too vulgar. Postcard.
