'The Prince's First Derby, 1896: His Royal Highness leading 'Persimmon' into the weighing enclosure at Epsom after the race', (1901). The Prince of Wales leads his horse as spectators cheer. Thoroughbred race horse Persimmon, owned by Prince Albert Edward (1841-1910, the future King Edward VII), won both the Derby at Epsom racecourse in Surrey, and the St Leger at Doncaster in the same year.
