'Princess Alexandra in the East End: Her Royal Highness attending one of her dinners for poor children at the People's Palace', c1897, (1901). Princess Alexandra of Denmark (1844-1925, future Queen Alexandra) and her husband Prince Albert Edward (1841-1910), the future King Edward VII, at the People's Palace in Mile End, east London. Alexandra devoted much of her time to charitable work - here food is provided for children of poor families.
