'Canterbury Cathedral, Kent', c1845. View of the cathedral at Canterbury in Kent which was founded in 597 AD. It was largely rebuilt in Gothic style following a fire in 1174, with extensions to accommodate the flow of pilgrims visiting the shrine of Thomas Becket. From "Curiosities of Great Britain.
