'Abercrombie', (1734-1801), 1830. Sir Ralph Abercromby (1734-1801) Scottish soldier and politician, educated at Rugby school and Edinburgh University. Served as MP for Clackmannanshire. Lieutenant-general in the British Army, Governor of Trinidad, Commander-in-Chief, Ireland, noted for services during the French Revolutionary Wars.
