Porcelain pot, 16th century?, (1881). Etching of a jug 'mounted on a piece of plate bearing the hall mark of 1585. It is quite possible that the jug may be much older than even the end of the sixteenth century...The porcelain is like the famous blue and white Nankin [ceramics from Nanjing in China]; octagonal in shape'. From "The South Kensington Museum", a book of engraved illustrations, with descriptions, of the works of art in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London (formerly known as the South Kensington Museum).
