Standing mirror, c1510, (1881). Etching of a carved walnut table mirror with metal mirror plate in a rectangular frame that rotates on a four-sided pedestal, made in Italy in the early 16th century. The mirror belonged to Jules Soulages, a lawyer from Toulouse, whose collection was bought piecemeal by the Victoria & Albert Museum. From "The South Kensington Museum", a book of engraved illustrations, with descriptions, of the works of art in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London (formerly known as the South Kensington Museum). [Sampson Low, Marston, Searle and Rivington, London, 1881]
