Silver cup, 1580-1600, (1881). Etching of a cup made as a trial piece of work, or 'masterpiece', that met an agreed standard of workmanship. This example, by Wenzel Jamnitzer of Nuremberg in Germany, has a body in the form of 6 lobes tapering downwards, with repoussé ornament of strapwork, flora, and figures of Diana, Lucretia, and Judith.
