Mandore, 1640, (1881). Etching of a mandore, an early version of the mandolin, in carved pearwood, ebony veneer and ivory. It was made by Boissart in France and is dated 1640. It has six strings, and the back of the body is decorated with the Judgement of Paris, the mythical beauty contest between the goddesses Juno, Minerva and Venus.
