Wooden diptych with scenes from the Book of Genesis, mid 19th century, (1881). Etching of a carved and glazed diptych of boxwood and oak, made in Germany before 1860. The closed wings depict four subjects from the Fall based on engravings by the 15th-century printmaker Martin Schongauer: The Temptation of Adam and Eve, The expulsion from Paradise, The killing of Abel, and Cain is made a fugitive.
