Silver table ornament, 1680-1699, (1881). Etching of an ornament or salt cellar decorated with dolphins, made in the late 17th century by silversmith Sebastian Juvarra of Messina, Sicily. The design is derived partly from the 16th-century Fountain of Orion by Giovanni Angelo Montorsoli, in the town of Messina. From "The South Kensington Museum", a book of engraved illustrations, with descriptions, of the works of art in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London (formerly known as the South Kensington Museum).
