'Otway', (1652-1685), 1830. Thomas Otway (1652-1685) English Restoration dramatist, educated at Winchester College, and Christ Church, Oxford which he left without a degree. After being disbanded from service in the Netherlands with depreciated paper, he ceased to struggle against misfortune and died in poverty. From "Biographical Illustrations", by Alfred Howard.
