Band with Trophy Heads, 100 BC-700. This band's intense colour and spider-web sheerness are remarkable. Both were achieved with a complex weaving technique developed nowhere else in the world. Each colour area is essentially a small, independent textile linked to surrounding colour areas through weaving rather than sewing, a puzzling feat that we do not yet completely understand. The image repeated in each of the band's rectangles is equally baffling-two little feet descend from an odd, head-like form.
