Epitaph Plaques for Yi Gi-ha, 1718. This blue-and-white ceramic set of 18 epitaph tablets is a funerary record commemorating the life of Yi Gi-ha (1646-1718). The writing script on these tablets is called the "regular script" using straight and smooth strokes; the object’s legal nature requires great clarity and accuracy. The writing contains information ranging from Yi’s personality to his political achievements. The first tablet introduces his illustrated family lineage including a number of famous ancestors. The 16th tablet talks about Yi’s wife and children. According to the last tablet, the two prominent high officials Yoon Soon and Yi Deok-soo composed this eulogy for the epitaph set.
