Luxury Ewer Extending Good Fortune to the Owner, 1223. The lavish silver inlaid surface features a wide band displaying medallions with scenes of court and daily life and an inscription band on the shoulder, written in plaited and animated kufic (angular) script, extending good fortune, generosity, and charitable giving to the owner. This celebrated ewer is dated 1223 and signed by the master craftsman Ahmad al-Dhaki of Mosul.
