Design for mural decoration, Italy, (1928). '2nd Quarter of 18th Century... Probably by a member of the family of stucco workers Bossi which was also considerably employed in Germany. The water-colour bears the inscription "Bossi inve : et deli." It is not clear whether this is an artist's signature or a note ascribing the picture to Bossi. As there is, however no doubt that the inscription was written in the 18th century it may be regarded as more or less trustworthy'. After a water-colour. Plate CI, fig 195, from "An Encyclopaedia of Colour Decoration from the Earliest Times to the Middle of the XIXth Century" with explanatory text by Helmuth Bossert. [Ernst Wasmuth Ltd., Berlin, 1928]
