"Journal" Headquarters, Daiquiri', Spanish-American War, June 1898, (1899). On 22 June 1898, American troops landed at the small village of Daiquirí near Santiago de Cuba and attacked the Spanish troops stationed there. This building may have been used by the journalists covering the war. From "The Little I saw of Cuba" by Burr McIntosh, with photographs by the author. (In 1898, American actor and journalist William Burr McIntosh went to Cuba to cover the Spanish-American War for "Leslie's Weekly" as a reporter and photographer). [F.
