'About 1820-1830...There can be no doubt that [Luigi] Rossini was the artist...Rossini, draughtsman, architect and engraver [1790-1857]...is best known by a series of engravings treating ancient Rome and the antiquities of Pompeii...Our design is doubtlessly influenced by Pompeian paintings'.
