'Upon approaching the fountains, the visitor feels a sudden chillness. Jets of water amidst the trees, Naiads in tears, statues of the Caesars and of Fame, a throne for Titan, a basin for Saturn, a secluded retreat for the Muses, are but minor features in the scene'.
