The magnificent silver-gilt wine cooler, at Windsor Castle - scene in the Waterloo Gallery, at the Royal Christening, 1844. Celebrations after Queen Victoria's son Alfred, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, was baptised. Guests are served drinks from a ladle in the form of a nautilus shell. The Grand Punch Bowl is the largest piece of wrought English plate in existence. It weighs 8,000 oz, cost £8500, and was designed by Thomas Stothard. From "Illustrated London News", 1844, Vol I.
