The Telegraph, and Church of St Olaf's before the fire, 1843. The Telegraph Tower, a former shot tower, was used as a telegraph station 'for the communication of intelligence from the Downs and other parts of the coast'. The tower and St Olave's Church were destroyed in a fire on Tooley Street near London Bridge. From "Illustrated London News", 1844, Vol I.
