Her Majesty's State Bed, Burghley, 1844. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert were the guests of the Marquis of Exeter, at Burghley House, near Stamford, Lincolnshire. The house was built in the 16th century; here we see the four-poster State Bed used by the queen: 'The carving is of very elegant design...'. From "Illustrated London News", 1844, Vol V.
