Littlebury Tunnel, 1845. Railway tunnel near Littlebury in Essex, on the newly opened line from London to Cambridge and Ely. 'At Littlebury are two specimens of tunnelling, the long one about a quarter of a mile, or rather more, in length; the other, shorter. The entrances are good specimens of the bold and early style of arch, over which are, as in our illustration, the armorial bearings of the noble house of Neville and Griffin, Lords Braybrooke'.
