The Royal Party changing horses, Die Ziel, Frankfurt, 1845. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert stop in Frankfurt during a royal visit to Germany. '...the Queen and suite proceeded in the Royal carriages to Frankfurt, where they only stopped to change horses, all ceremony being strictly dispensed with. Our Illustration shows this scene in the principal street (Zeil) of the New Town, where are many handsome houses, inhabited by rich merchants and bankers: we miss, however, the picturesque German costume - the dress at Frankfurt being similar to that worn in England'.
