Mr. Miall, 1845. British politician Edward Miall, candidate for the London borough of Southwark. 'Mr. Miall, the third candidate, did not seem to have a chance of success from the opening of the poll; if the battle of votes was between Mr. Pilcher and Sir W. Molesworth, the war of words was principally between the Hon. Baronet and Mr. Miall; they carried on the great Hobbes controversy above alluded to. Mr. Miall is the Editor of the Nonconformist, and an opponent of all Church establishments and endowments'. The election was won by William Molesworth. From "Illustrated London News", 1845, Vol VII.
