London stage production starring French ballerina Adèle Dumilâtre: '...we have found a full confirmation of our introductory remarks as to the danger of critics deciding on a first representation, by the reception given to the "Marble Maiden." This ballet met with general condemnation, but since the first night, by judicious curtailments, it has become a source of great attraction as one of the prettiest and most effective of ballets. We witnessed it on Wednesday night for the third time, and nothing could exceed the enthusiasm of the audience. Adolphe Adam's music and Dumilatre's dancing are charming'.
