The Rev. T. Price, 1845. Portrait of Welsh historian Reverend Thomas Price, a leading figure in the revival of the Eisteddfod, and associated with the Cymreigyddion Festival in Wales. 'The venerable Eisteddfod of the Welsh was, in olden time, a congress of all the poets and minstrelsy of the country, attended and presided over by the princes and nobles oi the land. It was also a depository for national oral record...The Abergavenny Cymreigyddion y Fenni was established in the year 1833 by the spirited tradesmen of Abergavenny, and has been supported by them ever since with an energy and talent which reflect the greatest credit upon them'.
