Entrance gateway, Lincoln's Inn Fields, 1845. Construction work at Lincoln's Inn, one of the Inns of Court at Holborn in London. The new complex was designed by Philip Hardwick. 'The Gateway is situated at the southern end of the plan, in a line with the Western Front. It is an embattled arch, flanked by two octagonal piers, surmounted with cupolas, the whole beautifully executed in brick sandstone...'. From "Illustrated London News", 1845, Vol VII.
