Lord Mayor's Day - the Stationers' Company's barge at Lambeth Palace, 1845. Annual flotilla of boats on the River Thames in London. 'On the morning of the memorable Ninth of November, it has been customary for the Stationers' Company to attend the Lord Mayor, in their superbly gilt barge, to Westminster; and to cross the River in their barge to Lambeth Palace. On their arrival, certain members of the household of his Grace the Archbishop of Canterbury come on board the barge, and bring with them hot spiced ale, buns and cakes, and a quantity of wine, wherewith the worthy "Stationers" are regaled'.
