A circular brass tag inscribed with QUALLS / TIBBS on one side and 27 / USCT [United States Colored Troops] on the other. This would have been worn on the uniform of a black soldier fighting in the Union army during the American Civil War. The inscription was stamped using individual letter and number dies. There are two holes through the tag above and below the inscription.
