Case for a drafting tool kit used by architect John S. Chase. Chase (1925-2012) was the first licensed African-American architect in the state of Texas, and the first African-American to serve on the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts. The black cover, slightly stained, has a gray interior. The center of the center of the cover is imprinted with [Ridgway's]. On the upper spine is [Made in Germany]. The case has an interior base to house tools. There are two (2) metal snap closures on the right side of the base which secure to the snap closures on the front cover. There are short films of clear plastic, partially warped, which fold over to cover the tools. Inside is a green fabric base with indents for each of the tools. There are eight (8) separate tools, including compasses, lead, and a ruling pen, in the kit. Some of the slots are empty. The reverse is blank.
