Flying suit, USAF Thunderbirds, 2006-2007. Suit worn by Nicole Malachowski of the air demonstration squadron of the United States Air Force. Malachowski was the first female pilot selected to fly as part of the USAF Air Demonstration Squadron, better known as the Thunderbirds. Dark blue nomex one piece coverall with zipper down front; one upper left breast zipper pocket; one zipper pocket on eace lower leg; snap cuffs; attached waist belt; white elastic nylon draws on inside back of suit; drop fall collar; manufacture and care tags on inside right waist; attached epaulets with gold embroidered Major oak leaf rank insignia; white embroidered text over left breast pocket "3, Nicole Malachowski, Right WIng"; sewn-on embroidered U.S.A.F. Thunderbirds insignia on right breast (royal blue phoenix with yellow beak and eye, red disk for a body with a white five point star, four royal blue upper profiles of F-16 formation on white star, black letter script text "Thunderbirds"); sewn-on embroidered fifty star United States national flag on upper left arm.
