24c General Winfield Scott special printing single, 1875. Unused; special printing of the 1873 issue; produced by Continental Bank Note Company in 1875;Probably no more then 90 examples of this stamp still exisit.;In 1875, Post Office Department officials decided to exhibit samples of all previously issued stamps at the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia the following year. Since this required a special printing, the department ordered extra copies for sale to stamp collectors.
