Phalaris and the Bull of Perillus, 1590/1600. [The brazen bull was allegedly a torture and execution device designed by Perilaus of Athens who offered it to Phalaris, the tyrant of Akragas in Sicily. The condemned were locked inside the lifesize bronze bull and a fire was set under it, heating the metal until the person inside was roasted to death.]. Attributed to Giovanni Caccini.
