An exterior view from the north-east of St Giles-without-Cripplegate, a medieval gothic church on the Barbican development site. St Giles-without-Cripplegate church lies at the heart of the modern Barbican complex. The church was built in 1394 on the site of a previous Saxon and Norman church. St Giles church was badly damaged by bombing during World War Two, and has since been fully restored. In 1950, the church was designated as a Grade I listed building.
