During the Coventry Blitz St John's, Bablake suffered bomb damage to its windows and roof. In this view a ladder can be seen providing access to the roof of the south chancel aisle. A notice giving directions to the nearest ARP Shelter (Air Raid Precaution Shelter) can be seen on the street light in the left foreground.
