Cathedral Church of All Saints, Kirkgate, Wakefield, 1942. An interior view of All Saints Cathedral, looking north-west across the nave from the south aisle. Originally a parish church, it was given cathedral status in 1888. The main church body was rebuilt between 1858 and 1874 by Sir George Gilbert Scott, and there is some earlier material from the 12th to 15th centuries inside. The south arcade piers alternate between circular and octagonal, and support pointed arches. The north arcade has circular and quatrefoil piers.
