York Minster, Minster Yard, York, 1942. A detailed view of a carved pier capital in the crypt of York Minster, also known as St Peter's Cathedral Church . The crypt has arcade of squat round piers with carved capitals. The capitals are polygonal and support the ribs of the vaulted ceiling. They are carved with interlocking foliate designs with dot-work.
