Tintern Abbey, Monmouthshire, Wales, 1951. A view looking north-west towards Tintern Abbey, with a road sign displaying 'Tintern' in the foreground. Tintern Abbey was founded in 1131, and was dissolved in 1536. It was the first Cistercian house to be founded in Wales, and the second in Britain.
