Cooper and Faith 7 recovery, 1963. US Navy divers install a stabilizing flotation collar around Gordon Cooper's Mercury space capsule nicknamed "Faith 7" shortly after splashdown. Major Cooper successfully completed the Mercury-Atlas 9 orbital flight, as part of the final manned space mission of NASA's Project Mercury program.
