Looking south-east along Stanhope Street towards the junction with Newcastle Street, showing the shops and buildings soon to be demolished to make way for Aldwych, with horses and a cart in the foreground. Photographed as part of a series recording the Holborn and Strand improvement works. There is a handwritten note alongside the print which reads: "Stanhope St and Newcastle St. W Weedon at the door of his shop."
