St Paul's Cathedral, St Paul's Churchyard, City of London, City and County of the City of London, Greater London Authority, 1941-1945. A view looking north-west across a bomb damaged landscape towards St Paul's Cathedral with St Nicholas Cole Abbey on the left of the foreground . St Nicholas Cole Abbey was rebuilt by Christopher Wren after the Great Fire of London in 1666. During the Second World War it was again badly damaged by bombing and lay in ruins until it was restored in 1962.
